Job summary

Cloudflare in Austin, TX is seeking a Principal Software Engineer for the Workers Deploy & Config team. You’ll shape the architectural evolution of the control plane and build large‑scale systems to deploy, configure, and manage Workers globally.

Qualifications

Strong Go production experience and distributed systems focus.
Experience with Kubernetes, Prometheus, Grafana in large-scale environments.
Proven ability to mentor engineers and lead cross-team initiatives.
Deep understanding of RESTful APIs and developer experience.

Responsibilities

Lead architectural evolution of the Workers control plane and define multi-year strategy.
Identify high-leverage technical challenges and translate them into actionable paths.
Re-engineer core services to handle exponential traffic growth.
Architect foundational primitives enabling new product capabilities.
Own stability and efficiency of core customer-facing systems.
Establish benchmarks for API responsiveness, availability, and reliability.
Participate in on-call to maintain global platform availability.
Collaborate with Product and Engineering leadership on roadmaps.
Mentor mid-level and senior engineers to raise engineering standards.
Explore emerging technologies to improve the developer platform.
