Job summary

City of Tigard is seeking a civil engineering professional to supervise the private development team, oversee plan reviews, and advance engineering design standards. The role collaborates with the Assistant City Engineer and Community Development on permitting and long-range projects.

The position requires a civil engineering degree, five years of experience with at least one year in a lead role, and a valid driver's license. Hybrid work with occasional evenings is offered.

• Minimum of five years' progressively responsible experience in professional engineering design, plan review, and project administration, including at least one year in a lead or supervisory role.

• Supervise the private development team that includes Engineering Technicians and a Project Coordinator.

• Work closely with the Assistant City Engineer to develop and update engineering design standards.
• Collaborate with the Community Development team on permitting requirements and long range planning projects.

Any combination of training and experience, which would provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities, to perform the essential functions of the position, may be qualifying. A typical way to obtain the required qualifications would be:

• Equivalent to graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with major coursework in civil engineering or related engineering field; and
• A minimum of five (5) years' increasingly responsible experience in professional engineering design, plan review, and project administration including at least one (1) year of lead or supervisory experience.

Licenses and Certifications

• Possession of a valid driver's license and satisfactory driving history.
• Possession of, or ability to obtain within six (6) months of appointment, a Registration as a Professional Civil Engineer license to practice in the State of Oregon

Schedule

40 hours per week. Work schedule includes a combination of office and off-site meetings (some evenings) There is an opportunity for remote work up to 1 day per week.
