Blue Origin seeks a Principal Electrical Engineer for the TeraWave team in Washington. You will be the technical authority for OISL payload electronics, owning architec­ture, design, analysis, and verification from concept through flight qualification.

You will mentor engineers and influence hardware, software, and systems architecture in a multidisciplinary environment. You will lead mixed-signal design, high-speed interfaces, power integrity, and ECU/PLL strategies while collaborating with

Qualifications

• B.S. degree in Electrical Engineering or closely related field.
• 10+ years of relevant professional electronics design experience.
• 4+ years designing OISL or similar free-space optical communications hardware.
• Experience with mixed-signal systems combining analog and digital compute.
• Experience with high-speed interfaces (PCIe, DDR4/DDR5) including SI/PI considerations.
• Hands-on hardware bring-up, debug, and characterization with lab equipment.

Responsibilities

• Lead architecture and direction for OISL payload electronics from concept to flight qualification.
• Design mixed-signal front ends, data conversion, and digital control for optical inter-satellite links.
• Develop compute subsystems using FPGAs/SoCs with high-speed interfaces and memory topology.
• Define electrical interfaces to spacecraft bus (GNC/SDN) and lead ICD development and testing.
• Mentor engineers, lead design reviews (PDR/CDR/TRR), and drive design practices and rigorous analyses.
