Job summary

Blue Origin is seeking a Principal Electro-Optics Engineer to lead OISL terminal electronics for national security missions. You will bridge RF/digital design with optical communications, delivering robust, radiation-tolerant hardware for deep-space links.

You will mentor engineers, own signal integrity, and coordinate with government customers on PDR/CDR reviews while supporting environmental qualification and on-orbit operations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
• 10+ years in high-speed electrical design, FPGA development or mixed-signal circuits.
• Experience with space-qualified electronics and radiation effects mitigation.
• Active TS/SCI clearance or ability to obtain one is required.
• Strong communication and leadership in classified programs.

Responsibilities

• Lead electrical architecture for OISL terminal electronics including laser driver and readout chains.
• Design FPGA-based signal processing and coherent detection architectures.
• Architect high-speed interfaces (SerDes, PCIe, LVDS) between FPGAs and detectors.
• Develop timing/synchronization for inter-satellite links and PAT control loops.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure end-to-end link performance.
• Mentor engineers and support environmental qualification testing.
