In this role, you will join the Pharmaceutical, Manufacturing, and Semiconductor Science & Technology Buildings team in Chicago, IL.
What a day at EXP has in store for you
- Serve as a Technical Subject Matter Expert in electrical systems design for critical industrial manufacturing, including Pharmaceutical, Electronics, Chemical, and Division environments.
- Possess knowledge of NEC, NFPA Life Safety Code, and Chemical classification standards.
- Lead, supervise, and mentor Designer-level staff on responsibilities and project tasks.
- Establish design and quality standards for EXP in the Science and Technology market sector.
- Ensure engineering quality levels are met on projects.
- Develop design guides for the electrical department in Science and Technology.
- Perform complex code analysis and provide interpretations for the design team.
- Maintain high quality of specifications and details based on construction feedback.
- Oversee development of design concepts by Designers, ensuring proper application and execution.
- Verify the quality of designers' work, including specifications, reports, code compliance, submittals, equipment selection, and drawings.
- Apply risk management practices to project engineering.
- Lead the design team to produce construction documents that meet project requirements within schedule and budget.
- Have a solid understanding of engineering fundamentals and advanced concepts in electrical engineering.
- Write studies and reports on electrical systems for projects.
- Operate or understand lighting calculation and electrical power analysis software.
- Execute complex electrical designs with conflicting requirements or difficult coordination.
- Contribute to revisions of company design standards and master specifications for the market sector.
- Be an expert in specific electrical requirements within your market sector.
- Evaluate value engineering options considering risk.
- Prepare studies and reports for high-profile projects.
What your experience looks like
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
- Minimum of 15 years of related Electrical Engineering experience.
- Licensed Professional Engineer in Illinois and California, with the ability to obtain licenses in other states.
- Experience designing laboratories, Science & Technology manufacturing facilities, R&D, or related critical facilities.
The pay range for this role is $140,000-$160,000, with actual compensation based on skills, experience, certifications, and location. We also offer comprehensive benefits including health insurance, vacation, and 401(k).
