Job summary

Astera Labs is seeking a Principal Electrical Design Engineer in San Jose, CA to define and drive architecture, design, and strategy for advanced board-level hardware used in high-performance networking and AI connectivity platforms.

You will lead multi-disciplinary teams across silicon, SI/PI, mechanical, firmware, and manufacturing to deliver next-generation NIC cards, PCIe platforms, and chassis hardware from concept through production, shaping technical standards and best practices.

Qualifications

• Experience leading board-level hardware architecture across multi‑layer PCBs.

Responsibilities

• Define and own board-level hardware architecture and roadmap across product lines.
• Establish design standards, methodologies, and best practices for hardware engineering.
• Drive tradeoffs for multi-layer PCBs with high-speed signals balancing cost and manufacturability.
• Lead power delivery architecture strategy and protection philosophies across platforms.
• Own bring-up, validation, and debug strategies for new hardware platforms.
• Mentor engineers and contribute to design reviews and architectural decisions.
