Job summary

Databricks is seeking a Principal Data Scientist to serve as the statistical voice of the Data Science organization. You will translate the full power of data science into clear, actionable narratives for the CEO, C‑suite, and Board of Directors.

This IC role will drive executive-level impact by elevating analytical standards, shaping methodologies, and informing high-stakes decisions with rigorous statistical insights.

Qualifications

• 15+ years of data science, statistics, or quantitative research across industry and/or academia.
• Proven ability to present statistical concepts to C-suite and Board with measurable impact.
• Broad expertise across experimentation, causal inference, forecasting, optimization, and machine learning.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication — translate complex concepts for non-technical executives.
• Track record of upleveling analytical standards and mentoring senior data scientists.
• Experience at intersection of statistics and large-scale technology/data platforms.
• Ph.D. in Statistics, Mathematics, CS, or related quantitative field.

Responsibilities

• Translate data science findings into clear narratives for executive leadership.
• Serve as the chief statistical voice and enforce analytical rigor for high-stakes decisions.
• Raise the communication bar across the Data Science organization and co-author executive deliverables.
• Produce deep strategic analyses on revenue, platform health, and efficiency.
• Partner with engineering, product, and leadership to embed data-driven decisions.
