Job summary

Bloomerang, a mission-driven nonprofit CRM platform, seeks a Data Science Lead to own the intelligence layer atop our Unified Data Foundation. You’ll lead causal measurement, predictive modeling, and the ML platform, working with data and AI engineers to ship trusted models into production.

You are an IC with strong Python/SQL, 8+ years of production ML experience, and a passion for measurement-driven impact in the nonprofit sector. This fully remote role supports U.S. teams.

Qualifications

• 8+ years building data science and machine learning that shipped to production and moved a real metric—not models that stalled in a notebook.
• Deep, hands-on work with A/B testing, randomized holdouts, uplift and treatment-effect modeling, and significance and power analysis.
• Propensity, churn and retention, lifetime value, time-series and forecasting, calibration and simple modeling judgment.
• Strong Python and SQL, fluency with scikit-learn and related tools.
• Production ML: deployment, versioning, drift monitoring and accountability.
• Fluent with a modern data platform and lakehouse concepts (Databricks) to support feature modeling.

Responsibilities

• Design and run the experimentation engine—randomized holdouts, uplift measurement, significance and power—to prove actions cause lift in fundraising outcomes.
• Build the predictive and forecasting models for donor lifetime value, retention, lapse risk, and forecast accuracy.
• Own model quality, evaluation, and monitoring to ensure trustworthy AI products.
• Get models to production and maintain the ML lifecycle (training, deployment, versioning, drift) in a robust environment.
• Set the technical direction for data science, including methods and tooling decisions.
• Collaborate daily with data engineers and AI engineers on data lakehouse and feature modeling.
• Use AI tools (Claude Code, Cursor) daily to accelerate analysis and problem solving.
