Job summary

Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission (M-NCPPC) is seeking an experienced Term Contract Classification and Compensation Analyst to backfill the HR team during the Workday ERP/HCM implementation. The role focuses on classification, compensation structures, and supporting peak workloads.

Ideal candidates bring knowledge of classification and compensation principles, strong analytical and communication skills, and experience with HRIS (preferably Workday) and Excel.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources management or related field.
  • Four (4) years of HR work experience in the assigned program(s).
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted, totaling eight (8) years.
  • Certified Compensation Professional (CCP), SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR or SPHR is desired.
  • Valid driver’s license in accordance with rules and regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct job classifications and evaluations using point factor evaluation systems and prepare written reports.
  • Develop classification specifications/position descriptions and determine occupational series and FLSA designation.
  • Analyze salary structures, exceptions, equity requests, and reclassifications.
  • Participate in salary surveys and analyze market pricing.
  • Assist with Workday implementation, testing and training as required.
  • Interact with clients daily.

The Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission is a six-time Gold Medal winner recognized nationally for its parks and recreation programs whose mission is to manage physical growth and plan communities, protect and steward natural, cultural, and historic resources, and provide leisure and recreational experiences. The organization serves citizens within Montgomery and Prince George's counties and employs over 5,000 full-time and Seasonal employees.

M-NCPPC is seeking an experiencedTerm Contract Classification and Compensation Analystto join our team and support the implementation of the Commission's new enterprise-wide Workday ERP/Human Capital Management (HCM) system. This is a critical backfill position designed to maintain business continuity and seamless execution of our Agency's compensation strategy.

This Term Contract, Classification and Compensation Analyst (Corporate Human Resources Specialist III) will play a crucial role in supplementing the Classification and Compensation Team as they continue to support the organizational goals and objectives and simultaneously implement the new Workday ERP/Human Capital Management (HCM) system. This position plays a vital role by providing dedicated capacity to handle peak workloads, clear classification backlogs, and ensure competitive compensation structures.

The ideal candidate will have considerable knowledge of and experience in classification and compensation principles and practices and its applications; be motivated and a self-starter with good analytical, collaborative, written and oral communication skills; strong analytical and research skills to compile and analyze data and present logical conclusions; ability to handle a high volume of work; and proficient using Microsoft Office Products (Excel, Word and PowerPoint) and HRIS (preferably Workday or Lawson/Infor).

Examples of Important Duties
  • Conducting job classifications and evaluations using point factor evaluation system and preparing written reports on findings.
  • Developing classification specifications/position descriptions along with corresponding reports; determining proper occupational series and Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) designation.
  • Analyzing salary structures, salary exceptions, salary equity requests, and requests for reclassification.
  • Participating in salary surveys and analyzing market pricing.
  • Assisting with and participating in the new Workday system implementation, testing, and training as required.
  • Interacting with clients on a daily basis.

Highly Desirable Qualifications

Previous experience in Classification and Compensation utilizing Workday system; Workday position management experience; and Workday certifications.

Minimum Qualifications
  1. Bachelor’s degree in human resources management or any related field.
  2. Four (4) years of experience performing HR work in the assigned program(s).
  3. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted, which total eight (8) years.
  4. Certified Compensation Professional (CCP), SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP,Professional in Human Resources (PHR) or Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) is desired.
  5. Valid driver’s license in accordance with both state and Commission rules and regulations. Driver’s license must be unencumbered by restrictions, revocations, suspensions, or points that could limit the employee’s ability to drive Commission vehicles or perform driving duties required by the position of assignment.
