Job summary

Oracle is seeking a Principal Core Infrastructure Engineer in Nashville to lead design and evolution of foundational distributed systems behind OCI. You will build scalable, elastic, and fault-tolerant services for high-volume data retrieval, storage, and processing, guiding reliability, security, and operational readiness.

This on-site role in Nashville may include relocation support per policy. You will set technical direction, define SLOs, and drive observability, testing, and incident

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or equivalent experience.
• 7+ years of professional software-engineering experience on large-scale distributed systems or cloud infrastructure.
• Strong experience with highly available, scalable distributed systems.
• Proficiency in Java, C++, C#, or Go.
• Deep understanding of distributed-systems design, data structures, algorithms, OS, networking, and secure software practices.
• Experience with system-level test automation, performance testing, reliability engineering, and incident response.
• Leadership or mentorship experience in technical architecture.

Responsibilities

• Lead design and evolution of core distributed systems and data-plane services at hyperscale.
• Define scalability, elasticity, durability, and availability requirements for components.
• Optimize high-throughput data paths for retrieval, storage, and processing.
• Design fault-tolerant systems with automatic failover and recovery.
• Apply distributed-systems tradeoffs for partitions, load shedding, and timeouts.
• Establish SLIs/SLOs, telemetry, dashboards, and proactive alerting.
• Lead performance, load, fault-injection, and resilience testing.
• Lead incident diagnosis and root-cause analysis, mentoring engineers.
