Job summary

Rocket Lab’s IT team in Long Beach, CA, is hiring a Principal Cloud Security Engineer to secure cloud infrastructure, automate security controls, and guide risk analyses across CI/CD, IAM, and production environments.

Responsibilities include collaborating with DevOps and security teams, supporting security reviews, and maintaining threat intelligence to evolve the security posture of a rapidly growing space company.

Qualifications

• 12+ years scripting and infrastructure as code experience (Bash, PowerShell, Python; Puppet, Ansible, Terraform)
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent years of experience (16+ years total)
• Cloud security architecture across AWS, Azure and Google Cloud
• Experience with cloud security tools such as AWS Security Hub, Azure Security Center, Google Cloud Security Command Center
• Git-driven version control and networking concepts; secure communications
• Databases and analytics tools; PowerBI and Jupyter; vendor-agnostic assessment engines
• U.S. citizenship is required, due to program requirements.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and maintain security controls for hybrid cloud environments (IaaS, PaaS, SaaS, FaaS)
• Design and develop custom automation to achieve cyber objectives
• Provide security support for internal/external design reviews
• Conduct security assessments and risk analyses; mitigation for CI/CD pipelines and automated infra
• Work with IAM to control access to cloud resources and apps
• Develop docs, plans, and proofs of concept for platform security improvements
• Configure and monitor cloud security tools and services
• Collaborate with development teams to embed security in SDLC, DevOps, and MLOps
• Stay ahead of threats and advise on proactive security measures
• Participate in security audits, assessments, and regulatory reviews
• Provide guidance on security matters, incident response, compliance, and training
