Job summary

Rocket Lab is seeking a Principal Cloud Security Engineer to secure its hybrid cloud environment from Long Beach, CA. You will design security controls, automate security tasks, and support SDLC/DevOps with a strong governance focus.

Ideal candidates bring 12+ years of scripting/IaC, cloud security expertise across AWS/Azure/GCP, and compliance experience. The role includes stock-based compensation and a comprehensive benefits package.

Qualifications

• 12+ years of scripting and IaC experience across automation and configuration management.
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent (16+ years total experience).
• Cloud security architecture across major cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud).
• Experience with government compliance regimes (NIST, DISA STIG) and ITIL/change review.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and maintain security controls for hybrid cloud environments (IaaS/PaaS/SaaS/FaaS).
• Develop custom automation to meet cyber objectives.
• Provide security support for design reviews and risk analyses.
• Conduct vulnerability assessments and mitigation for cloud, CI/CD, and automation.
• Implement IAM in collaboration with Infrastructure Operations.
• Create documentation and proofs of concept for security platform improvements.
• Configure and monitor cloud security tools and services.
• Integrate security into SDLC, DevOps, and MLOps processes.
• Stay current on threats and best practices; advise on proactive measures.
• Support incident response, compliance, and security awareness training.
