Job Description

UKG is looking for a Principal Cloud Platform Engineer to build and maintain our public/private cloud’s PaaS layer (Platform as a Service). This team abstracts the complexities of Infrastructure, Networking, and Security to ensure standardized consumption for supporting Applications. Technologies include Linux, Go, Ansible, Concourse, K8s, GKE, GCP, and Openstack. The role involves partnering with Agile teams for seamless integration and deployment.

This position may involve work with the U.S. government; therefore, U.S. citizenship is required. Existing or previous Government Security Clearance is preferred, or the ability to obtain one.

Responsibilities

1. Manage and improve tools and services stack, delivering value incrementally.
2. Maintain and enhance managed services like Kubernetes, MongoDB, MySQL, Elasticsearch, Redis, RabbitMQ, PostgreSQL, AlloyDB.
3. Develop applications and services to enable Product Development teams via in-house portals.
4. Collaborate with teams to understand requirements and gaps.
5. Participate in meetings, troubleshoot issues, and mentor team members.
6. Lead engineering implementations and ensure alignment with industry best practices.
7. Write technical specifications and documentation.
8. Participate in rotational on-call duties.

Qualifications

1. Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in related fields.
2. 10+ years building/configuring cloud infrastructure, preferably on GCP.
3. 10+ years programming experience in languages such as Java, Golang, Ruby, or Python.
4. 10+ years managing Linux platforms.
5. Experience with Cloud Native solutions and DevOps tools.
6. Proficiency with container technologies and scripting languages.
7. Knowledge of Windows/Linux OS, Networking, and high-availability services.
8. Experience with infrastructure automation, web technologies, and SRE principles.

Additional Qualifications

1. Experience with RDBMS and NoSQL databases.
2. Experience with messaging queues and monitoring tools.
