Title And Summary

Principal, Platform Engineer

Overview

The Principal Cloud Platform Architect/Engineer is responsible for defining, implementing, and maintaining Mastercard Cloud initiatives, especially related to M&A activities. This includes defining Strategy, Principles, Patterns, Standards, Designs, and Integration approaches to enable new entities to join Mastercard.

Note: Travel to Mastercard Office and/or M&A Entity location is expected, possibly internationally.

Responsibilities

1. Collaborate across organizations to influence decisions, drive outcomes, and build trust through leadership and delivery.
2. Communicate organizational vision, incorporate industry standards, and identify synergies and risks.
3. Design architecture from proof of concept to operational application, ensuring requirements are met.
4. Recommend optimizations for the cloud platform architecture, fostering innovation.
5. Manage architecture issues, exceptions, and corrective actions, explaining trade-offs.
6. Support process improvements, automation, and deployment efficiency.
7. Advise on architectural and operational problems, evaluate new technologies.
8. Mentor team members, contribute to community initiatives, and develop reusable standards.

Experiences

1. Leadership of domestic and global teams, evaluating new technologies for solutions.
2. Ensuring security and service standards are met for performance and experience.
3. Leading large initiatives, resolving architectural challenges.
4. Experience with AWS is required; GCP/Azure is a plus.
5. Active participation in technical communities, evaluating solutions, and developing innovative designs.
6. Skills in optimizing SDLC, automation, and risk analysis for cloud solutions.
7. Ability to drive trade-offs for capacity planning based on various drivers.
