Job summary

Snap Inc. is seeking a Principal Software Engineer to own highly scalable, distributed infrastructure powering Snap's services from multi-cloud environments.

You will build and operate service mesh, compute, network, and deployment infrastructure, collaborating across teams to translate product needs into robust systems. You will advocate for availability and cost efficiency, provide technical direction, and mentor engineers.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, mathematics, statistics or equivalent.
• 10+ years of post-bachelor software development experience; advanced degrees as alternatives.
• 2+ years in technical leadership or domain-expert role.
• Experience architecting distributed systems and leading engineering projects.
• Track record of operating highly available systems at scale.

Responsibilities

• Own highly scalable, distributed infrastructure powering Snap services.
• Build and operate the Service Mesh, Compute, Network and Deployments Infrastructure.
• Collaborate across teams to translate product needs into robust solutions.
• Advocate for availability, scalability, operational excellence and cost management.
• Provide technical direction influencing the entire company.
