Job summary

Snap Inc. is seeking a Backend Engineer to design, implement, and operate our most critical services—from user identity to core persistence.

You’ll collaborate across teams to translate product requirements into robust, scalable solutions while prioritizing quality and cost-efficiency. You will contribute to highly available systems at scale, participate in incident response, and work with colleagues across the organization.

Qualifications

• BS/BA in Computer Science or equivalent
• 1 year of post-Bachelor’s software development experience or Master’s degree
• Experience with backend services or distributed systems
• Ability to own medium-sized features across multiple PRs
• Experience with scalable, highly available systems

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and operate critical, scalable services (identity, friend graph, core persistence)
• Work with cross-team stakeholders to translate product requirements into solutions
• Test, debug, and maintain high-quality systems
• Advocate for availability, scalability, and cost efficiency
