Job summary

AT&T in Bothell, WA seeks a Principal Software Engineer to own design, development, and operation of large-scale broadband device management platforms in public clouds. You will lead architecture and platform evolution using TR-069 (CWMP) and TR-369 (USP) with AWS and Kubernetes, pushing AI into the SDLC for productivity and quality.

You will collaborate across engineering, product, operations, security, and vendor teams, delivering scalable, reliable customer experiences and on-call ready

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in CS/engineering.
• 7+ years of software engineering experience building and operating large-scale distributed systems.
• Strong expertise in broadband device management technologies including TR-069 (CWMP) and TR-369 (USP).
• Hands-on development experience with Java and/or Python.
• Experience developing cloud-native applications in AWS.
• Experience with Kubernetes, containers, microservices, REST APIs, and CI/CD pipelines.
• Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving, and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and drive initiatives with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, deploy, and support cloud-native platforms that manage millions of connected broadband devices.
• Develop scalable applications, APIs, and microservices using modern software engineering practices.
• Lead technical design, architecture, and platform evolution for broadband device management solutions leveraging TR-069 and TR-369.
• Build and operate highly available solutions on AWS and Kubernetes.
• Improve platform reliability through automation, observability, CI/CD, testing, and DevOps best practices.
• Troubleshoot complex production issues and participate in on-call support.
• Leverage AI-powered tools to accelerate development, testing, monitoring, operational support, and engineering productivity.
• Collaborate with product, architecture, security, operations, and vendor teams to deliver business-critical capabilities.
