Northrop Grumman Defense Systems is seeking a Principal/Sr. Principal Structural Engineer to join the Infrastructure Design Team on the Sentinel program.

The role supports civil/structural design, modeling, and integration for Sentinel infrastructure facilities and launch centers, with locations in Manhattan Beach, CA or Roy, UT. Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Science or STEM with 5 years of experience; or Master's degree with 3 years of experience; or PhD with 0 years of experience.
• Must be a US Citizen with the ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret Clearance
• US Citizenship with the ability to obtain Special Program Access (SAP).
• Knowledge and/or experience with structural analysis of structures, utility connduit and connections.
• Professional knowledge of structures, statics, strength of materials, structural dynamics principles, and methods.
• Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with adjacent disciplines (e.g. systems engineering, aerodynamics, stress analysis, design, test) in a highly integrated team environment.
• Experience with review of structural calculations, Basis of Design, construction drawings and specifications, logic plans, preferably with aerospace structures.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for overseeing and coordinating civil/structural systems design for the Sentinel infrastructure and facilities.
• Subject matter expert supporting the design of high complexity civil/structural systems, including structural steel design drawings, concrete forming and reinforcing design drawings.
• Interpret and verify industry standards, guidelines, and codes for project Deliverables.
• Participate in project design/model reviews.
• Review subcontractors design product quality/accuracy by reviewing civil/structural designs and validating that current standards are applied and integrated into the design solution.
• Support the delivery of Civil/Structural facility design Technical Data Packages, Issue-for-Construction (IFC) packages, as-built TDPs, PDPs, interface models, and additional design artifacts.
• Supporting structured trade studies to evaluate alternative design solutions to resolve technical issues.
• Developing and presenting design change requests, coordinating with impacted internal and external stakeholders, and ensuring configuration control of the technical baseline.
• Identifying risks and opportunities associated with or driven by design factors and executing handling/mitigation/capture actions to reduce risk or realize opportunities.
• Developing and maturing Civil/Structural facility designs that meet Weapon System requirements, UFC, MIL-STD, and other applicable codes and regulations.
