Job Description:

We are currently working with one of the world's most respected consultancies as they look to add a Principal Civil Engineer (Water Engineering) to their division in Basingstoke, within commutable distance of London. This opportunity will allow you to learn from some of the best minds in the industry, setting you up for a prosperous future and meaningful career.

This consultancy's Water Team is involved in high-profile, industry-leading infrastructure projects in the UK and overseas, working on significant projects directly for water companies, contractors, and government entities. Projects include potable water and sewage networks, treatment works of all scales, and at all stages from feasibility to operation, maintenance, and asset management.

Key responsibilities include:

  1. Collaborating with engineers, hydraulic modellers, environmental scientists, and technical specialists to deliver high-quality projects.
  2. Proactively solving engineering problems to benefit communities.
  3. Participating in all design stages, including feasibility, outline, detailed designs, and report and specification preparation.
  4. Ensuring design compliance with standards and regulations, providing technical expertise for analytical studies.
  5. Managing complex tasks and projects, including budgets and timelines.
  6. Leading technical delivery and reviewing work for accuracy and timeliness.
  7. Liaising with clients on scope, proposals, and project updates.
  8. Managing junior staff, providing guidance, mentorship, and performance evaluations.

The Water Team integrates diverse skills to provide sustainable, cost-effective solutions, working on high-profile infrastructure and community projects, both in the UK and internationally.

Requirements include:

  1. Bachelor's or Master's degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent experience.
  2. Proven water sector experience at the Principal level, preferably within the UK.
  3. Chartered or working towards chartership with ICE, CIWEM, or similar.
  4. Experience with engineering assessments, calculations, and economic appraisals.
  5. Experience in design of wastewater, water treatment, flood risk, or drainage schemes.
