Job summary

Merck in the United States seeks a Principal Scientist to join the Digital Insights team within DSCS DDT. You will apply first-principles engineering, CFD, and physics-based simulation to bring predictive rigor to scale-up across a multi-modality pipeline, with a current focus on biologics, and act as the senior CFD authority for drug substance development.

You will mentor junior scientists, shape the modeling roadmap, and collaborate with experimentalists and process engineers to translate

Qualifications

• Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering or closely-related field with 6+ years industrial/pharmaceutical experience.
• M.S. in Chemical Engineering or closely-related field with 8+ years industrial/pharmaceutical experience.
• B.S. in Chemical Engineering or closely-related field with 10+ years industrial/pharmaceutical experience.

Responsibilities

• Lead CFD and engineering simulation of bioreactor mixing and gas–liquid systems to define scale-up criteria.
• Design scale-down models reproducing critical hydrodynamic conditions for development vs manufacturing scales.
• Mentor junior scientists and shape the modeling roadmap for DSCS Process Modeling & Analytics.
