Job summary

CHAOS Industries is seeking a Principal Autonomy Software Engineer to lead the software architecture for distributed defense systems. You will shape perception, planning, and coordination across sensors and edge devices, turning data into trusted decisions for operators in fast-changing environments.

You will partner with hardware, RF, systems, and product teams to move from prototype to fielded systems, setting standards and mentoring engineers across the org.

Qualifications

• Hands-on track record designing and shipping autonomy or robotics software that runs on real hardware in the field.
• Strong C++/Rust and Python with real-time, safety-critical, or resource-constrained systems expertise.
• Ownership of complex systems from concept through deployment; accountable for production results.

Responsibilities

• Own the autonomy software architecture end to end, multi-sensor fusion and world-modeling, mission planning, and real-time decision-making across distributed nodes.
• Define the technical strategy and roadmap for autonomy across products and drive alignment on hard trade-offs.
• Build and productionize autonomy software that runs on resource-constrained edge hardware in the field.
