Job summary

CHAOS Industries' Autonomy team builds the software brains behind our distributed defense systems—the perception, planning, and coordination layers that let fleets of sensors and actuators operate as one adaptive network.

As Principal Autonomy Software Engineer, you’ll set the technical direction for how our platforms sense, reason, and act in contested environments, serving as architect, builder, and force multiplier.

Qualifications

• Hands-on track record designing and shipping autonomy or robotics software in the field.
• Expert proficiency in C++/Rust and Python for real-time, safety-critical systems.
• Strong foundation in probabilistic estimation, sensor fusion, and planning algorithms.

Responsibilities

• Own the autonomy software architecture end to end, multi-sensor fusion and world-modeling, mission planning, and real-time decision-making across distributed nodes.
• Define the technical strategy and roadmap for autonomy across products, aligning hard trade-offs across teams.
• Build production-ready autonomy software for resource-constrained edge hardware in the field.
• Set and enforce engineering standards for code quality, testing, and safety of autonomous behavior.
• Mentor engineers and lead cross-functional collaboration, translating operator needs into robust autonomy requirements.
• Stand up simulation, test, and evaluation pipelines to validate autonomous behavior before field deployment.
