Job summary

Baxter is seeking a Principal Android Software Engineer to lead architecture and delivery of shared Android capabilities powering clinical product apps worldwide. You will own significant portions of the Android system design—reusable services, WebView/React UI foundations, device connectivity patterns—and mentor engineers in a regulated medical-device environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field.
• 10+ years of software development experience, including Android.
• Proven experience leading technical architecture across multi-product ecosystems.
• Expertise in Kotlin and modern Android development (networking, DI, coroutines).
• Experience building reusable mobile SDKs, libraries, platform services, scalable architectures.
• Hands-on with cameras, connected devices, or hybrid mobile/web apps.
• Strong communication and cross-functional leadership for technical direction.

Responsibilities

• Define and evolve shared Android platform architecture used by multiple product apps.
• Lead design and development of on-device building blocks (authentication, data workflows, services).
• Partner with product teams to gather requirements, publish contracts, and align apps with platform conventions.
• Set coding standards and guide testing, CI/CD, and release practices in regulated medical software.
• Mentor engineers and establish patterns for velocity and maintainability across teams.
• Collaborate with systems, hardware, clinical, and product partners to translate needs into robust designs.
• Document architecture, design, and test docs to support regulated development.
