Job summary

Auria in Boulder, CO is seeking a Principal/Sr Principal Algorithms Software Engineer to design, develop, test, and document advanced software and mathematical algorithms for BMDS/OPIR. On-site in Boulder, the role supports the BOA/ESL team delivering real-time missile detection and tracking capabilities.

Responsibilities include algorithm development, performance analysis, and cross-disciplinary collaboration using Modern C++ and Python.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM discipline with 5+ years of related experience for Level 3, or Master’s with 3+ years, or PhD with 1+ year.
• For Level 4, 8+ years with Bachelor’s, or 6+ years with Master’s, or 4+ years with PhD.
• Active in-scope U.S. Government Secret clearance required to start; TS/SCI preferred.
• Minimum 1 year software development with Python and/or C++.
• Linux experience and familiarity with common utilities (grep, awk, cat).
• Experience developing, analyzing, testing, and implementing extendable/reusable algorithms.
• Experience with data analysis, population statistics, and trend identification.
• Ability to bridge theory and practical implementation; travel up to 10%.

Responsibilities

• Apply mathematics to missile tracking data and algorithm development.
• Develop and analyze tracking and state estimation algorithms.
• Develop tool and prototypes using Modern C++ and Python.
• Track algorithm defects and resolve issues; document work as required.
• Collaborate with cross-discipline teams and communicate findings clearly.
• Ensure mission relevance of software products for end users.
