Job summary

IHG Hotels & Resorts seeks a Principal Software Engineer to lead AI strategy and architecture across the company. You will define long-term technical direction and mentor senior engineers, building scalable AI platforms and core services.

You will influence product and engineering teams, tackle high-risk R&D, and champion best practices from model training to deployment and ethics, while operating in a hybrid work environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a relevant field or equivalent experience.
• 10+ years of progressive work experience in software engineering and AI.
• Experience leading geographically dispersed teams and multi-team programs.
• Proven track record as Principal/Lead/Senior engineer with strategic impact.
• Experience presenting to executive leadership on technical topics.

Responsibilities

• Define and drive long-term AI technical strategy for the company.
• Design and prototype foundational AI platforms, frameworks, and core services.
• Act as the lead technical consultant on AI for product and engineering teams.
• Tackle complex, mission-critical problems and lead high‑risk R&D initiatives.
• Mentor Lead and Senior engineers to elevate architectural and design skills.
• Establish and evangelize best practices, patterns, and standards for AI development.
