Job summary

ServiceNow seeks a Principal Engineer in HRSD to shape model-driven capabilities across the HR domain, focusing on agentic conversations, context handling, and safe orchestration across tools and policies. You will own the architecture, evaluation infra, and multi-release model calls while collaborating with product and engineering to deliver robust enterprise AI solutions.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of software engineering with a track record of broad technical direction.
• Hands-on authoring of agentic instructions and prompts; designing autonomous workflows.
• Production experience with LLM APIs, retrieval-grounded features and tool orchestration.
• Data handling with per-user access enforcement and role-based scope separation.
• Experience with evaluation: dataset curation, drift detection, CI gating.

Responsibilities

• Own AI architecture for HRSD domain and how agents decompose and reason.
• Define multi-release model calls, orchestration approach, and cost/latency tradeoffs.
• Set policy on actions agents may take; ensure human review where needed.
• Surface and surface tool descriptions; ensure upgrade-safe extension points.
• Establish evaluation harnesses and safety for production systems.
• Collaborate with product and engineering to deliver scalable AI solutions.
• Maintain on-call readiness and incident response for customer-facing systems.
• Ensure compliance and privacy across HR data and workflows.
