Qualifications

  • Education equivalent to Canadian secondary school diploma required.
  • Experience in industrial plant operation and heavy equipment operation is an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Daily operations of a stationary crushing plant and meeting safety targets.
  • Promote safety culture and ensure equipment is operated per guidelines.

Objective & Overview
As a member of the Coldwater site team, the Primary Plant Operator position will execute the daily tasks of maintaining and operating an aggregate processing plant in accordance with Lafarge’s best practices and policies as well as perform all administration related to the equipment’s operation.

Responsibilities

  1. Operations: Daily operations of a stationary crushing plant. Meeting safety and production targets.
  2. Safety: Promote safety culture through engagement with employees, Joint Health and Safety Coordinators, subcontractors and suppliers, implementation and maintenance of local and regional initiatives with an objective of “zero” safety incidents.
  3. Equipment: Ensure assigned equipment is operated to original equipment manufacturer guidelines and industry best practices.
  4. Plant Maintenance: Ensure daily, weekly, monthly, and annual inspections regarding preventative maintenance actions are scheduled and completed.
  5. Other: Perform other duties as assigned to assist in the efficient operation of the plant and site.

This position is for Afternoon shift (Approximately 11:00 am to 10 pm) Monday to Friday, with optional Saturdays.

Relationship with Others

  1. Reports to the Plant Foreman.
  2. This position requires extensive liaison with the mobile equipment operators and wash plant operators.

Qualification Profile

Education & Work Experience:

  1. Canadian secondary school diploma or equivalent.
  2. Industrial plant operation experience an asset.
  3. Heavy equipment operation experience an asset.

Knowledge & Skills:

  1. First aid, WHMIS, Surface Miner training, confined space training, working-at-heights training.
  2. Specific mobile equipment training.
  3. Mechanical aptitude / extensive manual labor tasks.
  4. Computer literacy an asset.
