Job summary

OptumCare is seeking a Primary Care Physician in California to deliver patient-centered, value-based care within an integrated team. This role prioritizes meaningful patient relationships and high-quality outcomes across the adult and senior populations.

Qualifications

• MD or DO degree and board-eligible or board-certified.
• Residency in Family Medicine or Internal Medicine completed.
• Active California medical license or ability to obtain before start.
• CA DEA certificate or ability to obtain before start.
• BLS certification or ability to obtain before start.
• EMR proficiency required.

Responsibilities

• Provide outpatient care with no call or weekend work.
• Conduct consultations, follow-ups, well-checks, and screenings.
• Treat adults and seniors; manage a patient census of roughly 18–20/day.
• Schedule: 40 min for new patients, 20 min for follow-ups.
• Collaborate with nurses and medical assistants.

Required Qualifications:

• Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) or Doctor of Osteopathic (D.O.)
• Completion of an accredited residency in Family Medicine or Internal Medicine
• Board Certification in Family Medicine or Internal Medicine, or Board Eligible for medical residents
• Active and unrestricted California Medical License or ability to obtain prior to start
• Current California DEA certificate or ability to obtain prior to start
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or ability to obtain prior to start
• EMR Proficient

Position Highlights & Primary Responsibilities:

• Monday - Friday / 8am - 5pm (no call, no weekends)
• Manage patient care in an outpatient setting
• Conduct consultations, follow-up appointments, well-checks, and schedule screenings
• Comfortable seeing patients of all ages, primarily adults/seniors
• Average Daily Patient Census: 18-20 patients
• Appointment schedule: 40 min new patient, 20 min follow-up patient visits
• Dedicated support staff of nurses and medical assistants

For California Residents Only: The salary range for California residents is $260,000-$360,000 per year. Salary Range is defined as total cash compensation at target. The actual range and pay mix of base and bonus is variable based upon experience and metric achievement.
