Job summary

Two Rivers Supervisory Union’s Green Mountain Union High School in Chester, Vermont seeks a Prevention Coordinator to enhance students' emotional, social, and physical well-being and to train staff in recognizing signs of problems.

Primary duties include engaging with students, faculty, and families to raise awareness of substance abuse, providing prevention and counseling, leading staff development, coordinating EST/504/IEP meetings, and connecting students with community resources.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree is required; advanced degree preferred.
  • Experience in Mental Health and/or Substance Abuse and strong counseling background required.
  • Knowledge about community resources and skills related to case management.
  • Appropriate school licensure preferred.

Responsibilities

Job Description

Primary responsibility is to provide quality services to enhance students' emotional, social, and physical well-being, and train staff to recognize signs of problems and plan appropriate interventions.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities:

  • To interact with students, faculty, and parents to raise awareness of substance abuse issues utilizing prevention and counseling techniques to achieve this goal.
  • Provide quality services to enhance students social, emotional, and physical well-being and train staff to recognize signs of problems and plan appropriate interventions for students.
  • Use appropriate methods to intervene in situations affecting student educational progress.
  • Provide appropriate services to students.
  • Lead staff professional development to recognize student behavior that is cause for referral.
  • Assessment and referral of students.
  • Work with teachers and students to determine the cause of academic difficulties and identify steps to address those identified needs.
  • Participate in EST, 504, and IEP meetings as necessary and appropriate.
  • Provide PD to staff that addresses healthy choices and drug/alcohol prevention and awareness.
  • Maintain effective working relationships with school staff, students, and administrators.
  • Participate in PD activities to improve knowledge and skills.
  • Act in a professional and ethical manner.
  • Comply with district policies, procedures and programs.
  • Attend appropriate trainings.
  • Complete the Vermont Department of Health required paperwork.
  • Facilitate student groups.

Job Requirements
  • Qualifications, Knowledge, and Skills:

    Compensation will be commensurate with degree and experience.
