Job summary

Commonwealth of Kentucky's Administrative Office of the Courts in Newport is hiring a Pretrial Services Specialist-SHIFT. The role reviews arrests to determine pretrial release eligibility, conducts interviews, background checks, and makes recommendations to trial courts.

It requires an associate degree and 2+ years in criminal justice. Work may include weekend/rotating shifts, data entry in PRIM, travel to counties, and interaction with judges and community providers.

Qualifications

• Associate degree required.
• At least two years’ experience in criminal justice, judicial, or legal systems.
• Proficiency with interviews, background checks, and reporting.

Responsibilities

• Conduct initial defendant interview within 24 hours of jail booking.
• Review defendant case history and risk assessments to determine pretrial release eligibility.
• Make pretrial release recommendations and consult with judges as needed.
• Supervise defendants on Monitored Release and ensure court-ordered programs are followed.
• Enter data in the Pretrial Release Management (PRIM) system and generate written reports.
• Travel to counties statewide for meetings, trainings, and court duties.
