Job description

Position Summary:

A Tier 1 automotive supplier producing battery components, is seeking a detail-oriented and safety-focused Press Machine Operator to join our growing production team. The ideal candidate will have experience with operating metal press stamping equipment, performing production maintenance, adjusting tooling, and troubleshooting issues to ensure efficient and high-quality fabrication of components. This role will also involve cross-training in our cleanroom operations and supporting continuous improvement initiatives such as 5S.

Key Responsibilities:

Press Operations & Metal Stamping Fabrication:

  • Operate metal press stamping machines to fabricate component parts per production specifications.
  • Set up, calibrate, and adjust tooling and dies for optimal performance.
  • Monitor machine performance and material flow to ensure quality and efficiency.
  • Perform in-process and start-up inspections to verify product conformity.
  • Have the ability to use chemicals to fill to proper equipment levels
  • Ability to operate a crane hoist

Production Maintenance & Troubleshooting:

  • Conduct basic equipment maintenance and minor repairs to ensure up time.
  • Identify and troubleshoot mechanical issues and collaborate with maintenance technicians when necessary.
  • Document machine performance, downtime, and maintenance activities.

Production Support:

  • Follow work instructions, production schedules, and safety protocols.
  • Ensure product quality meets standards and document non-conformances.
  • Support root cause analysis of production defects or downtime.

5S, Safety, and Continuous Improvement:

  • Maintain a clean and organized workspace in line with 5S principles.
  • Participate in continuous improvement and lean manufacturing initiatives.
  • Uphold strict adherence to safety policies and report any safety hazards immediately.
  • Cross-Training & Versatility:
  • Cross-train and perform assigned duties in the cleanroom environment as needed.
  • Assist with cleanroom operations, assembly, or quality checks to support production demands.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical training or vocational certification preferred.
  • 2+ years of experience operating press machines or in metal stamping fabrication (preferred).
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
  • Familiarity with basic maintenance tools and techniques.
  • Experience with calipers micrometer
  • Operate sit down forklift and pallet jack (electric and manual)
  • Ability to read blueprints, work instructions, and use measuring tools (e.g., calipers, gauges).
  • Commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement.
  • Willingness to work in cleanroom and non-cleanroom environments.

Physical Requirements:

  • Able to stand, bend, and lift up to 75lbs. regularly.
  • Comfortable working around machinery, noise, and in a fast-paced production setting.
  • May require wearing personal protective equipment (PPE) including cleanroom garments.
