Job summary

Norsk Hydro in Gainesville, GA is seeking a night-shift extrusion press operator to run the extrusion line, monitor the log furnace and associated equipment, and maintain quality control and safety standards.

The role requires flexibility to work 12‑hour nights (7:00 PM–7:00 AM) with a starting pay of $25.25 per hour and a shift differential. Eligible for retirement savings, education assistance, and a bonus plan. EOE.

Qualifications

• Must demonstrate the ability to safely lift to 100 lbs. on a repetitive basis, with a partner.
• The ability to work any shift is required.
• Minimum of 1 year Manufacturing Experience desirable.

Responsibilities

• Operate extrusion press for productive and efficient output.
• Ensure quality and quantity of material produced on the extrusion press.
• Monitor and control the Log Furnace, Log Shear, Extrusion Press, and related systems.
• Oversee Extrusion Puller System and Extrusion Cooling process.
• Monitor and operate the Extrusion Handling System and related computer setup.

Shifts Available and Hours

12-hour continental night shift - 7:00 PM - 7:00 AM

Shift Premium

Shift Differential = $1.00/HR to start (less than 1 year); $1.25 for 1 to 3 years and $1.50 for 3+ years of service

What you will be doing

• Responsible for the productive and efficient operation of the extrusion press.
• Responsible for Quality and Quantity of material being produced on the extrusion press.
• Responsible for monitoring and controlling the Log Furnace.
• Responsible for monitoring and operating the Log Shear.
• Responsible for monitoring and operating the Extrusion Press.
• Responsible for monitoring and operating the Extrusion Puller System.
• Responsible for the control of the Extrusion Cooling Process.
• Responsible for monitoring and operating the Extrusion Handling System.
• Responsible for the computer set‑up and monitoring of the extrusion press system.
• Responsible for quality checks of the extruded material.
• Responsible for housekeeping around the press operation area.
