Gengras Center in West Hartford, CT seeks an educational assistant to support classroom routines and curriculum development under the supervision of the lead teacher. You will help design and implement developmentally appropriate activities aligned with CT ELDS and NAEYC standards, and assist in maintaining required educational materials.

The role involves adapting lesson plans, collecting assessment observations, and supporting family conferences.

Qualifications

• Associate Degree in Early Childhood Education or related field is required.
• 2-3 years working in an early childhood education program.
• Experience in a model laboratory school preferred.

Responsabilités

• Assist in designing and implementing a developmentally appropriate curriculum guided by CT ELDS and NAEYC standards.
• Modify curriculum and lesson plans to support learning environments and goals.
• Gather assessment observations and CT DOTS documentation; support family-teacher conferences.
• Support SYC in maintaining NAEYC accreditation; help maintain classroom portfolio and updates.
• Welcome families daily and communicate children's activities and progress; participate in school events.
• Support professional development through workshops and courses; assume teacher duties during absence.
• Follow school policies; submit paperwork on time and monitor communications.
• Handle customer needs promptly and courteously; uphold customer-service focus.
• Defers major decisions to Teacher/Director/Assistant Director.
