Job summary

YMCA of Greater Hartford is seeking an On-Call Assistant Teacher Substitute in East Hartford, CT. Under guidance of the Head Teacher, you provide high-quality education and care for preschool students and assist in daily classroom supervision, including outdoor play, using positive discipline to keep a safe environment.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of ECE development and CT standards.
• Warm and nurturing personality.
• Bilingual (Spanish/English) a plus.
• This role may access PHI to perform duties.
• Ability to work in a preschool classroom with potential health considerations.
• Awareness of confidentiality and program goals.
• Flexibility, patience, and good hygiene.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Teacher in daily classroom supervision and outdoor activities.
• Support developmentally appropriate curriculums and timely forms.
• Use knowledge of child development to plan for individual children.
• Supervise parents and classroom visitors.
• Document and assist in drills and emergency procedures.
• Prepare materials, manage attendance and meal counts.
• Maintain materials safely and uphold core YMCA values.
