Job summary

YMCA New Britain is seeking a certified Lead Teacher for our early childhood program in New Britain, PA. This full-time, hourly role pays $18–$21 per hour and offers benefits through a nonprofit employer.

You will design engaging lessons, create a safe, nurturing environment, and maintain records while collaborating with families and a strong team. A relevant education and 2+ years of experience are preferred, with required clearances.

Qualifications

• High school diploma, Associate/Bachelor degree from an accredited college or university in childhood education, child development, special education, elementary education, or the human services field preferred
• Are 18+ and have 2+ years of experience working with children in a professional, volunteer, or familial capacity
• Passionate about working with children in a fun, diverse environment
• Ability to pass all relevant clearances

Responsibilities

• Finding new and engaging ways to help kids learn
• Being patient and kind with our parents
• Designing age appropriate lesson plans and activities
• Cultivating and fostering a safe and nurturing environment that will encourage physical, emotional, and intellectual growth of children in the program
• Maintaining required program records, including child files and portfolios
• Adjusting curriculum to ensure that all children meet the learning objectives
• Utilizing state and YMCA guidelines to ensure the safety and well being of the children
