Job summary

The Y in Central Maryland is seeking a Preschool Teacher to plan, manage and supervise an early childhood classroom, including lesson plans, schedules and transitions, in line with state standards and the Y’s approach.

You will ensure the health, welfare and safety of children, and foster their social, emotional, physical, cognitive and creative development; you will communicate with families and collaborate with fellow associates.

Qualifications

• Enthusiasm for young children and ability to engage learners.
• Ability to clearly communicate with children, parents/guardians, and colleagues.
• At least 1 year of early childhood experience.
• A high school diploma or GED.
• Completion of a 90-hour child care certificate.

Responsibilities

• Plan, manage and supervise the classroom environment.
• Prepare lesson plans, schedules, routines and transitions.
• Lead the classroom and support associates.
• Ensure health, welfare and safety of enrolled children.
• Foster social, emotional, physical, cognitive and creative development.
