Job summary

The Y in Central Maryland is seeking a Preschool Lead Teacher to plan, manage and supervise early childhood classroom activities, ensuring engaging lessons and smooth transitions. You will lead the classroom and support associates while upholding state standards and the Y’s educational philosophy to promote safety and wellbeing for every child.

Qualifications

• At least 1 year of early childhood experience.
• Clear communication with children, parents/guardians, and colleagues.
• High school diploma or GED required.
• 90 hour child care certification required.

How This Role Contributes To The Y’s Mission

As a Y Preschool Lead Teacher, you will plan, manage and supervise early childhood classroom structure, including lesson plans, schedules, routines and transitions. The teacher will lead the classroom and support associates, while ensuring adherence to state standards & regulations as well as to the Y’s philosophy and approach to early childhood education. You’ll be responsible for ensuring the health, welfare, and safety of the children enrolled in our program. You will also create an environment which fosters the social, emotional, physical, cognitive, and creative development of each child in your care. As a Y Preschool Teacher, you’ll contribute to the Y and to the overall community we serve by working with our littlest Y participants to help them prepare for success in school and life.
