Job summary

North Central Missouri College is seeking a Teacher Assistant to aid the teacher in child development and center management. The role reports to the lead teacher and is full-time, non-exempt, on-site at the Chillicothe campus.

Responsibilities include supporting classroom activities, field trips, and center operations, while upholding safety and professional conduct. The position requires a high school diploma or equivalent; CDA or college coursework is preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; CDA or some college preferred.
• Ability to pass a criminal background screening.
• Obtain/maintain CDA within two years of hire.
• Maintain annual health requirements including TB test and physical.
• Lift 40–50 pounds.
• Communicate with children and families with kindness and respect, follow teacher direction, and support curriculum fidelity.

Responsibilities

• Assist the teacher in planning, executing, and evaluating developmental experiences for children in the classroom and related spaces.
• Help manage the operation of the center and supervise Head Start children.
• Reinforce positive behavior and guide children toward self-esteem.
• Assist parents and volunteers as directed by the teacher.
• Maintain center records as directed by the teacher.
• Perform janitorial duties as directed; support center activities and teamwork.
• Participate in workshops and training opportunities to improve work duties.
• Perform other duties related to center activities as assigned.
