Job summary

Central Texas College Child Development Lab School is seeking an assistant teacher to support the lead teacher in maintaining a safe, engaging learning environment for young children. You will set up centers, conduct group activities, and substitute when needed, while following Texas Minimum Standards for Licensed Childcare Centers.

Requirements include a high school diploma or GED and related childcare experience or lab work, plus CPR/First Aid certification and background checks.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required and one semester of lab experience in a lab school, or 6 months experience with children (0-5) in licensed childcare.
• Lab experience transcripts must be uploaded if applicable.
• 6 hours of Child Development/Early Childhood coursework from accredited institution is desired.

Responsibilities

• Supervise classroom and playground to maintain a safe, healthy environment for children.
• Promote physical, intellectual, emotional, and social development of each child.
• Treat children with dignity and respect and follow teacher’s routines and guidance techniques.
• Carry out teacher’s curriculum across music, art, literacy, math, science and social studies.
• Prepare learning environment, materials and centers, and interact during activities.
• Recognize each child’s interests and abilities and encourage appropriate activities.
• Refer parents to lead teachers with questions about children’s needs or behaviors.
• Maintain confidentiality and professional standards with families and staff.
• Notify Center Director ofAbsences or unavailability as early as possible.
• Obtain CPR and First Aid Certification and be able to obtain clear background checks.
