Our school:

The Goddard School of Watertown is a premier early childhood center that offers the best preparation for social, physical, and academic success for children aged 6 weeks to 6 years. Our curriculum and philosophy, inspired by Piaget and Erikson, focus on play-based learning. We aim to attract and retain top educators by providing a supportive, collaborative culture and the tools needed for success.

Responsibilities:

  1. Planning and organizing activities that meet the goals of the school, including policies, enrollment, staffing, curriculum, and administration & marketing.
  2. Managing the school’s operations, including classroom and center supplies and budget.
  3. Managing vendors, including selection and maintaining operational relationships.
  4. Collaborating with the admin team to maintain appropriate staffing levels in accordance with policies and regulations.
  5. Engaging with parents through interaction, orientation, and problem-solving.
  6. Maintaining records related to health, enrollment, safety, and licensing in accordance with state requirements.
  7. Developing plans for space and equipment use and care.
  8. Enhancing community relations to promote awareness of the school and its offerings.
  9. Participating in professional development activities.
  10. Performing other business tasks as assigned.
  11. Arriving each day with a positive outlook and a great sense of humor.

Requirements:

  1. Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or related field (considering an Associate’s degree with relevant management experience).
  2. Current CDA or Early Childhood Teaching Credential, plus 12 semester hours or continuing education units related to young children (birth to age 8), and 2 years (3120 clock hours) of experience in a licensed childcare center or preschool, along with 1 year of management experience.
  3. Management experience in a licensed childcare center or preschool.
  4. Minimum of 18 ECE credits.
  5. Director II Certification.
  6. Availability to work between 7:00 AM and 6:00 PM.
  7. Strong written and verbal communication skills.

General Qualifications:

  • Ability to hear the conversational voice, with or without hearing aids.
  • Ability to see and read newsprint, with or without corrective lenses.
  • Ability to speak clearly and be understood.
  • Ability to lift and carry children and items weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to use arms, hands, legs, and feet, including during emergencies.
  • Ability to handle crisis situations involving children.
  • Immediate response capability to emergency situations.
