Program Context

The men's basketball program represents Marquette University nationally, with significant reputation, financial, and donor relations implications. The Director of Operations will manage logistics within the men's basketball office, including summer camp management, team logistics for competitions, and act as the primary liaison with compliance, housing, and business offices. The role supports the efficient operation of the men's basketball office by supervising student employees and athletics staff. Duties and Responsibilities
  1. Manage summer camp: Develop communication and marketing materials, oversee registration, handle hiring and payroll documentation, coordinate housing and meals, and manage related budgets and financials.
  2. Manage team logistics: Coordinate travel, scheduling, and meals for away and home competitions.
  3. Onboarding and support of student-athletes: Manage housing, meals, and financial assistance, coordinate housing decisions, and procure items to enhance residence halls as recruiting advantages.
  4. Budget management: Oversee budgets for men's basketball operations, summer camp, and discretionary funds; monitor expenses and prepare reports.
  5. Compliance liaison: Understand and interpret NCAA regulations, complete necessary paperwork, and educate staff and recruits on rules.
  6. Staff supervision: Hire, train, evaluate, and develop staff and student employees.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree
  • Minimum of 4 years experience in a basketball setting, preferably men's basketball
  • Supervisory experience required
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Teamworks
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Highly organized with the ability to manage stress and work in a fast-paced environment
  • Availability to work evenings, weekends, and travel between October and April
Preferred Skills
  • Experience in intercollegiate athletics
