Job summary

GLEAMNS Human Resources Commission, Incorporated is seeking a dedicated bus driver to transport preschool children to Head Start centers following established routes and safety procedures.

The role requires maintaining vehicle condition, communicating with parents and staff, and adhering to program policies. A valid SC CDL with school bus endorsement is desirable, with a focus on safety, confidentiality, and teamwork.

Qualifications

• Minimum two years related working experience.
• A valid South Carolina Commercial Driver’s License with school bus endorsement is desirable and evidence of a good driving record.

Responsibilities

• Transport children and staff to Head Start centers and activities using established routes and procedures.
• Assist in the transportation of vehicles for maintenance and repair.
• Communicate rules and regulations to parents and staff relating to transporting children.
• Operate vehicle in a safe manner and follow traffic rules and program policies.
• Inspect assigned vehicle daily for proper operation.
• Maintain vehicle cleanliness and safety.
• Respond to emergencies in prescribed manner.
• Maintain safety equipment and know how to use it.
• Keep accurate records on vehicle maintenance, routes, accidents, mileage, inspections and fuel purchases.
• Submit reports timely.
• Follow Transportation Handbook policies and GLEAMNS procedures.
• Participate in transportation staff meetings and training workshops.
• Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.
