Job summary

University of North Texas at Dallas is seeking an Associate Teacher to support children ages 0-5, collaborating with the Center Supervisor and teachers to implement developmentally appropriate activities and to cover for teachers as needed.

Candidates must have 12 semester units in ECE/CD with core classes, a Child Development Associate Teacher Permit or higher (or must qualify for the permit within 60 days), and at least 6 months of related experience.

Qualifications

• 6 months related experience with children ages 0-5.
• 12 semester units ECE/CD with required core classes.
• CDA Credential or CTC or permit eligibility within 60 days of start date.

Responsibilities

• Provide care and education for children ages 0-5.
• Collaborate with Center Supervisor and Teachers to plan activities.
• Assume responsibilities of a Teacher in their absence and support instructors, parents, and volunteers.
• Maintain a safe, clean, and nurturing environment.
• Assist in planning and executing educational activities.
• Participate in physical activities with children (games, music, outdoor play).
• Assist with bus supervision and transportation safety.
• Complete pediatric First Aid and CPR training within 30 days.

We are looking for dedicated individual to join our Early Childhood Education team as Associate Teacher. This is a unique opportunity to play a pivotal role in the growth and development of children while supporting our mission to provide high-quality education and care.

What we're looking for in the ideal candidate:

• Has 12 semester units ECE/CD, with a grade C or better, or CDA Credential or CTC. Units must consist of the following core classes:
  • Child Growth & Development
  • Child, Family & Community, or Child & Family Relations
  • ECE/CD Programs/Curriculum courses
  • For positions in our Infant/Toddler classroom, candidates must have 3 units of Infant/Toddler courses.
• Child Development Associate Teacher Permit or higher at the time of hire; candidates who do not possess the permit must qualify for and submit an application for the permit within 60 days of their start date.
• Has 6 months related experience with children ages 0-5 years of age.
• Depending on the department assigned, a valid California driver’s license, a current DMV driving record, and proof of insurance may be required to fulfill job-related travel. Reasonable accommodations will be considered in accordance with applicable laws.

As an Associate Teacher you will:

• Provide care and education for children ages 0-5, ensuring a positive and engaging learning experience.
• Collaborate with the Center Supervisor and Teachers to plan and implement developmentally appropriate activities.
• Assume the responsibilities of a Teacher in their absence, guiding and supporting instructional assistants, parents, and volunteers.
• Maintain a safe, clean, and nurturing environment for all children.
• Assist in planning and executing educational activities that promote child development.
• Participate in physical activities with children, including games, music, and outdoor play.
• Assist with bus supervision, ensuring the safety and engagement of children during transportation.
• Complete pediatric first aid and pediatric CPR training within the first 30 days of hire.
• Complete 16 hours of training on preventative health practices and nutrition, as required by Health and Safety Code within the first 30 days of hire.
