Job summary

EveryChild California is seeking an Associate Teacher to join our Early Childhood Education team in Poway. You will provide care and education for children ages 0–5 and collaborate with the Center Supervisor and teachers to implement developmentally appropriate activities.

The ideal candidate has 12 semester units in ECE/CD or a CDA/CTC, a permit or plan to obtain one within 60 days, and at least 6 months of related experience.

Qualifications

• Candidates must have 12 semester units ECE/CD with a grade C or better, or CDA Credential or CTC.
• Units must include Child Growth & Development, Child, Family & Community, and ECE/CD Programs/Curriculum.
• For Infant/Toddler roles, 3 units of Infant/Toddler coursework are required.
• Possession of the permit or qualification to obtain the California Child Development Permit within 60 days of hire.
• Minimum 6 months of related experience with children ages 0–5.

Responsibilities

• Provide care and education for children aged 0–5 in a positive learning environment.
• Collaborate with Center Supervisor and teachers to plan developmentally appropriate activities.
• Step in as a Teacher when needed, guiding instructional assistants, parents, and volunteers.
• Maintain a safe, clean, nurturing environment.
• Assist with planning and executing activities that promote child development.
• Participate in physical activities, games, music, and outdoor play.
• Assist with bus supervision to ensure safety during transportation.
• Complete pediatric first aid and pediatric CPR training within 30 days of hire.
• Complete 16 hours of Health and Safety Code training on preventative health and nutrition within 30 days of hire.

What we're looking for in the ideal candidate:

• Has 12 semester units ECE/CD, with a grade C or better, or CDA Credential or CTC. Units must consist of the following core classes:
  • Child Growth & Development
  • Child, Family & Community, or Child & Family Relations
  • ECE/CD Programs/Curriculum courses
  • For positions in our Infant/Toddler classroom, candidates must have 3 units of Infant/Toddler courses.
• Child Development Associate Teacher Permit or higher at the time of hire; candidates who do not possess the permit must qualify for and submit an application for the permit within 60 days of their start date.
• Has 6 months related experience with children ages 0-5 years of age.
• Depending on the department assigned, a valid California driver’s license, a current DMV driving record, and proof of insurance may be required to fulfill job-related travel. Reasonable accommodations will be considered in accordance with applicable laws.

As an Associate Teacher you will:

• Provide care and education for children ages 0-5, ensuring a positive and engaging learning experience.
• Collaborate with the Center Supervisor and Teachers to plan and implement developmentally appropriate activities.
• Assume the responsibilities of a Teacher in their absence, guiding and supporting instructional assistants, parents, and volunteers.

• Assist with bus supervision, ensuring the safety and engagement of children during transportation.
