Job summary

EveryChild California is seeking an Associate Teacher to join our Early Childhood Education team. You will provide care and education for children aged 0–5, collaborating with the Center Supervisor and other teachers to plan engaging activities.

You will assume responsibilities in the Teacher's absence, create a safe, nurturing environment, and support families and volunteers. Training in pediatric first aid, CPR, and health practices is required within specified timelines.

Qualifications

• 12 semester units ECE/CD with a grade C or better; core classes include Growth & Development, Family & Community, and Programs/Curriculum.
• CDT Permit or higher required at hire or apply within 60 days of start.
• 6 months related experience with children 0–5 years.
• May require a CA driver’s license and DMV record for travel.

Responsibilities

• Provide care and education for children ages 0–5.
• Collaborate with Center Supervisor and Teachers to plan developmentally appropriate activities.
• Guide and support instructional assistants, parents and volunteers in the absence of a Teacher.
• Maintain a safe, clean, and nurturing environment for all children.
• Assist in planning and executing educational activities promoting child development.
• Participate in physical activities with children (games, music, outdoor play).
• Assist with bus supervision and child safety during transportation.
• Complete pediatric first aid and pediatric CPR training within 30 days of hire.
• Complete 16 hours of training on health practices and nutrition within 30 days of hire.

What we're looking for in the ideal candidate:

• Has 12 semester units ECE/CD, with a grade C or better, or CDA Credential or CTC. Units must consist of the following core classes:
  • Child Growth & Development
  • Child, Family & Community, or Child & Family Relations
  • ECE/CD Programs/Curriculum courses
  • For positions in our Infant/Toddler classroom, candidates must have 3 units of Infant/Toddler courses.
• Child Development Associate Teacher Permit or higher at the time of hire; candidates who do not possess the permit must qualify for and submit an application for the permit within 60 days of their start date.
• Has 6 months related experience with children ages 0-5 years of age.
• Depending on the department assigned, a valid California driver’s license, a current DMV driving record, and proof of insurance may be required to fulfill job-related travel. Reasonable accommodations will be considered in accordance with applicable laws.

As an Associate Teacher you will:

• Provide care and education for children ages 0-5, ensuring a positive and engaging learning experience.
• Collaborate with the Center Supervisor and Teachers to plan and implement developmentally appropriate activities.
• Assume the responsibilities of a Teacher in their absence, guiding and supporting instructional assistants, parents, and volunteers.
• Maintain a safe, clean, and nurturing environment for all children.
• Assist in planning and executing educational activities that promote child development.
• Participate in physical activities with children, including games, music, and outdoor play.
• Assist with bus supervision, ensuring the safety and engagement of children during transportation.
• Complete pediatric first aid and pediatric CPR training within the first 30 days of hire.
• Complete 16 hours of training on preventative health practices and nutrition, as required by Health and Safety Code within the first 30 days of hire.
