Job summary

Community Action Partnership of San Luis Obispo is seeking an Associate Teacher for the Early Childhood Education team. The role focuses on providing care and education for children ages 0-5 and collaborating with a supervising team to create developmentally appropriate activities.

You will support routines, assist in planning lessons, and guide instructional assistants, parents, and volunteers. Required first aid/CPR within 30 days and 16 hours of health/nutrition training.

Qualifications

• 12 semester units ECE/CD with a grade C or better, or CDA Credential or CTC.
• Units must include: Child Growth & Development; Child, Family & Community; ECE/CD Programs/Curriculum.
• Infant/Toddler classroom: 3 units in Infant/Toddler courses.
• Child Development Associate Teacher Permit or higher at hire; if not, apply within 60 days of start date.
• Has 6 months related experience with children ages 0-5.

Responsibilities

• Provide care and education for children ages 0-5, ensuring a positive and engaging learning experience.
• Collaborate with the Center Supervisor and Teachers to plan and implement developmentally appropriate activities.
• Assume duties of a Teacher in their absence, guiding instructional assistants, parents, and volunteers.
• Maintain a safe, clean, and nurturing environment for all children.
• Assist in planning and executing educational activities that promote child development.
• Participate in physical activities with children, including games, music, and outdoor play.
• Assist with bus supervision, ensuring safety during transportation.
• Complete pediatric first aid and pediatric CPR training within the first 30 days of hire.
• Complete 16 hours of training on preventative health practices and nutrition within the first 30 days of hire.

What we're looking for in the ideal candidate:

• Has 12 semester units ECE/CD, with a grade C or better, or CDA Credential or CTC. Units must consist of the following core classes:
  • Child Growth & Development
  • Child, Family & Community, or Child & Family Relations
  • ECE/CD Programs/Curriculum courses
  • For positions in our Infant/Toddler classroom, candidates must have 3 units of Infant/Toddler courses.
• Child Development Associate Teacher Permit or higher at the time of hire; candidates who do not possess the permit must qualify for and submit an application for the permit within 60 days of their start date.
• Has 6 months related experience with children ages 0-5 years of age.
• Depending on the department assigned, a valid California driver’s license, a current DMV driving record, and proof of insurance may be required to fulfill job-related travel. Reasonable accommodations will be considered in accordance with applicable laws.

As an Associate Teacher you will:
