Job summary

Seattle Public Schools is seeking a Special Education Assistant to support a 1-1 student in the preschool service pathway. You will assist in supervising, caring for, and instructing a student with special needs within regular or self-contained settings.

You will help implement instructional plans, monitor behavior, and participate in IEP meetings while collaborating with teachers, parents, and staff to ensure safety and progress.

Qualifications

• Adapting classroom activities under teacher direction to include all special education students.
• Conferring with teachers regarding student progress and IEP objectives.
• Ability to work with diverse groups and maintain confidentiality.

Responsibilities

• Adapt instructional activities and materials for students.
• Monitor student behavior and assist with safety.
• Attend IEP meetings and communicate progress to staff and families.
• Assist with personal care and medical needs as required.
• Support in both individual and group settings to reinforce objectives.
