Job summary

Bennington College is seeking a Prep Cook (Cooks Helper) to assist in all aspects of food preparation for meals across campus dining locations. The role supports safety and quality by following sanitation guidelines and proper food handling, with opportunities to assist in catering and Grab & Go service.

Qualifications

• High School graduate or GED; must be 18+.
• One year of relevant culinary experience; preferably large-scale institutional setting.
• Completion of Hazardous Communication Training and ServSafe Food Sanitation as required.
• Valid driver’s license preferred; good personal hygiene.
• Ability to follow instructions, write correspondence, and communicate effectively.

Responsibilities

• Assist with preparing all meals (hot and cold) and food production.
• Ensure food is properly prepared and served at correct temperatures.
• Monitor food usage and maintain adequate supply for line/ service.
• Follow standardized cycle menu and recipes; notify chef of discrepancies.
• Assist with catering events and function setup.
• Help with cleaning of work areas and equipment; assist in Snack Bar/Grab & Go service.
• Provide guidance to students and temporary staff; manage stock of food products.
• Operate vehicles if required and report mechanical issues.
