Job summary

Creative Dining Services is seeking a Prep Cook/Front of House on the Davenport University campus in Grand Rapids, MI. The role runs full-time from 10:00am to 6:30pm, with a pay range of $16.00-$17.50 per hour. Benefits include meals provided and opportunities for quarterly bonuses.

As a Prep Cook, you will ensure high quality, properly seasoned, nutritious food is prepared safely and efficiently, supporting the Dining Services team in all essential kitchen functions.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Minimum of 1 year food service experience preferred.
• ServSafe Certification.

Responsibilities

• Prepare food such that all food is ready for use within the established timeframe.
• Prepares food items according to established recipes and menus in a manner that preserves freshness, quality and appeal.
• Monitors kitchen equipment for proper functioning; report discrepancies to supervisor immediately.
• Maintains a clean and sanitized work area; follows safe food handling techniques at all times.
• Assists in ordering and inventory procedures; puts away/pulls stock as needed.

Creative Dining Services is looking for a Prep Cook/Front of House worker on the campus of Davenport University .

Full-time shift: 10:00am - 6:30pm

As the Prep Cook, works within the Dining Services Department to ensure that high quality, properly seasoned, nutritious food is being provided throughout the operation, in a safe manner. Works cooperatively as a valued member of the dining services team, assisting with any aspect of the dining services program necessary.

Core Responsibilities

• Prepare food such that all food is ready for use within the established timeframe.
• Prepares food items according to established recipes and menus in a manner in which preserves food freshness, quality and appeal.
• Prepares items for the Front of House/Salad Bar/Deli/Desserts
• Utilizes safe food handling techniques at all times.
• Stores food items according to established standards of practice; utilize proper labeling and dating.
• Holds prepared food items at appropriate temperatures (below 40° if cold, above 135° if hot).
• Maintains established logs (food temperatures, cooling temperatures, cooler & freezer temperatures, etc.).
• Maintains a clean and sanitized work area.
• Maintains a safe, tidy and well organized work environment at all times; cleans up spills quickly, wears protective gear as needed (i.e. slicer glove), and stores wares safely.
• Communicates needs and concerns regarding food production and kitchen operation to supervisor appropriately, and in a timely manner.
• Monitors kitchen equipment for proper functioning; report any discrepancies to supervisor immediately.
• Supports other kitchen employees in assuring that the essential functions of the kitchen are performed adequately and appropriately.
• Assists in ordering and inventory procedures.
• Removes refuse as needed.
• Puts away/Pulls stock as needed.

The Ideal Candidate

• Minimum of 1 year food service experience preferred
• ServSafe Certification
