Summary
The Kitchen Bistro in Boulder is a community gathering spot featuring a seasonal menu and shared plates set in a modern, rustic atmosphere. The prep cook is responsible for assisting in the preparation of excellent meals from scratch as well as assisting with other back-of-house duties. Our line cooks support the team and help to create and maintain an exciting, inviting, and progressive environment. This person should be a high-energy and positive individual who will help foster connections with friends, family, and the community through service, food, and drink. The ideal candidate should be self-motivated, eager to learn, and adaptable. We offer a unique, fun environment with the opportunity to grow within the company.
Responsibilities
- Assist in the preparation of meals.
- Properly measure ingredients and assemble them in accordance with the chef’s specifications. Use a scale to ensure proper portioning of food items.
- Wash, peel, and prepare raw food products; chop vegetables and make salads.
- Cut and portion different types of meat.
- Portion the food and prepare the dishes for plating.
- Ensure leftover food is stored properly.
- Test the temperature of foods at specified intervals.
- Clean, organize, and maintain refrigerators, coolers, and dry storage areas. Restock items as needed. Keep track of ingredient quantities and ensure there are always enough.
- Understand and comply with food safety and temperature standards.
- Open and close the restaurant and perform related work as requested.
- Perform objectives in a timely and efficient manner with a focus on quality while maintaining a positive and professional approach with coworkers.
- Promote and embrace the restaurant’s community and culture by demonstrating respect, positive energy, dependability, honesty, initiative, outgoing nature, and a professional appearance.
- Support the restaurant's vision and responsibility of being eco-conscious.
- Assist the team as needed. Perform related work as requested; model and promote teamwork.
Qualifications
- Solid knowledge of the restaurant food industry and ability to take instruction well.
- One year of experience or comparable; desire to expand restaurant knowledge.
- Good communication skills, adaptability, and integrity.
- Ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
Working Conditions
- Ability to perform all functions at the restaurant level.
- Work with hot, cold, and potentially hazardous equipment.
- Stand, use hands, reach, talk, hear, and taste or smell regularly.
- May work in warm or cold conditions for extended periods.
- Lift and/or move up to 50 pounds regularly.
- Specific vision abilities required include close, color, peripheral, depth perception, and focus adjustment.
Salary
- $16.00 - $21.00 per hour plus service fee
